Tribe Edit: Ana Mero

Welcome to the Tribe Edit, our newest journal series that shares the unique stories of the wonderful women and men in our Hamalie community. To kick things off, we’re highlighting Ana Mero. Fellow small business owner, mother, Los Angeles-based fashionista (and loyal Hamalie follower, of course!), Ana is the definition of a “boss.” We caught up with Ana to talk about her personal style, her post-pandemic feelings, and her best advice.

Ana first discovered Hamalie back in the thick of quarantine 2020 when her sister gifted her the Marte Egele Ese Top Handle purse. According to Ana, she loves her new bag because its classic white color and shape help elevate her daily outfits. “If you open my closet it’s a lot of black, white, and neutral colors. I love things that are edgy yet classic at the same time,” she says. “However, I’m not afraid to branch out, which is what I’m doing right now. For summer, I’m including more color in my wardrobe!”

When it comes to curating her personal style, Ana gets inspired by a variety of outlets. Of course, Pinterest is at the top of the list! “I love drawing inspiration from Pinterest and other people online. It’s very cool to see how we all think differently and how that translates into clothing. You could have a million followers and have a great picture, but sometimes I prefer to just see someone walking down to my coffee shop. They might be wearing something completely out of the ordinary and disrupting basic standards of clothing, and I appreciate that more because I’m actually looking at it. I draw inspiration from really anyone!”

As the founder and CEO of Ana Mero Swim, Ana also loves to follow other small businesses for motivation and connection. She has forged her own path and is creating the future she wants as a business owner despite the opinion of society. “We all have certain dreams. When we get older we tend to lose sight of that, of who we are and who we wanted to be when we were young. I don’t think anything defines a ‘real’ job. You should do what you want to do. Not everyone’s path is the same. We always have that fear of what other people are going to think of us. So I’ve been living this mindset of ‘just do it.’ Just go for it!”

Ana proves that you can truly do anything you’re passionate about and set your mind to. We are so lucky to have her as a part of the Hamalie Tribe. Currently, Ana is gearing up for the official re-opening of California and her summer plans. She’s excited to explore with her son around the city now that we’re nearing the end of the COVID-19 tunnel. We can’t wait to see how she styles her favorite Hamalie pieces this season!
